Data Integrity
Data Storage goes to great
lengths to ensure the integrity of the data that is being
protected. We run ongoing processes that check for file
corruption and data completeness. In addition to our
standard processes we are running daily and weekly
synchronizations and administrations for increased
protection:
Self Healing
The Self Healing functionality is a
veritable immune system. This tool constantly scans the
Data Vault for problem files. Before a file could cause any
harm, the Self Healing tool transfers the corrupt file from
its residence to a pre-determined quarantined location where
it can be safely deleted.
As an added value, a trigger is sent to
the Data Vault to resend a latest generation copy of the
file on its next scheduled backup.
Synchronizations
The DS-Client database is
responsible for recording what has been backed up. To ensure
data integrity, it must remain in sync with the contents of
the Data Vault. A synchronization process compares the data
which the DS-Client states that it has to the data stored on
the Data Vault.
Daily
Administration
The Daily Administration
process runs by default at 6:00 A.M. Monday through Saturday
(On Sunday the Daily Admin is replaced by the Weekly Admin
and combined with the Synchronization). The Daily Admin
quickly and efficiently completes a few standard functions:
•
Cleans the database
•
Updates statistical data
•
Verifies backup sets
•
Transfers the DS-Client database dump to the data
vault
