Document Imaging and OCR Indexing.
Here's why I love document scanning and electronic document imaging. Any EDM software worth it's salt can do optical character recognition document indexing.
Optical character recognition is when your software "Reads" the document at hand and converts the picture to some sort of searchable text.
This is particularly powerful when our customers use EDM (Our favorite in most cases is Fortis.) in conjunction with automated imports of images from multi-function printer/scanner/copiers and automated OCR indexing. The OCR indexing completely eliminates the need for typists to name, tag or file paper or digital documents.
